Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of JeScan. We've written them in plain language — please read them carefully. If you have questions, reach out at support@jescan.me.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using JeScan, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service.
These Terms apply to all users of JeScan, including visitors, free-tier users, and paid subscribers.
JeScan is operated by Gauthier Eholoum, an independent developer based in Cotonou, Benin.
Description of Service
JeScan is a document management platform that helps you digitize, organize, and retrieve your documents using AI. Core features include:
- Document upload and secure cloud storage - AI-powered classification and metadata extraction - Full-text search across all your documents - Folder and tag organization - Team workspaces with role-based access - Share links with expiration controls - Activity journal and audit trail
Features may vary depending on your subscription plan. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
Accounts & Authentication
JeScan uses Google OAuth for authentication. You must have a valid Google account to use JeScan.
You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate information during sign-up and keep your account information current.
If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at support@jescan.me.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use JeScan to:
- Upload, store, or share illegal content - Distribute malware or harmful files - Attempt to bypass storage or AI quota limits - Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the service - Use automated tools to scrape or overload the service - Impersonate another person or entity - Violate the privacy or intellectual property rights of others
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
Your Content & Ownership
You retain full ownership of all documents and content you upload to JeScan. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
By uploading content, you grant JeScan a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process (including AI classification and OCR), and display your content solely to provide the service to you.
This license is revoked when you delete your content or close your account.
You are solely responsible for the content you upload. You represent that you have the legal right to upload and store all content in your account.
Subscription & Billing
JeScan offers the following plans:
- Free: Limited storage and AI scans, no payment required - Pro: Expanded storage and AI quotas, billed monthly or annually - Team: Multi-user workspace with admin controls, billed per seat
Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. All prices are displayed in your local currency where supported.
You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time. Changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
If payment fails, we will retry for up to 7 days. After that, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan. Your documents will be preserved but access to premium features will be restricted.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' advance notice. Existing subscribers will be honored at their current rate until the end of their billing period.
Storage & AI Quotas
Your plan includes specific storage and AI processing limits. Current limits are displayed on the pricing page and in your account settings.
Free plan users who exceed their storage limit will not be able to upload new documents until they free up space or upgrade.
Storage is calculated based on the original file size at upload. Metadata and thumbnails do not count toward your quota.
We do not automatically delete your files if you exceed your quota. However, you will not be able to upload new documents until you are within your limit.
Team Workspaces
Team plan organizations allow multiple users to collaborate within a shared workspace.
Team members can have one of the following roles: Owner, Admin, or Member. Permissions vary by role as documented in the application.
The Owner is responsible for managing team membership, billing, and ensuring all team members comply with these Terms.
When a member leaves a Team workspace, their personal documents remain with their individual account. Documents uploaded with Team visibility are retained by the organization.
The Owner may transfer ownership to another Admin at any time.
Service Availability
We aim to provide JeScan with high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We are not liable for any data loss resulting from service outages, although we take commercially reasonable steps to prevent it.
We perform regular backups of all user data. In the event of data loss, we will make reasonable efforts to restore from the most recent backup.
Termination
You may close your account at any time from Settings → Account. Upon closure, your data will be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service - Engage in abusive or fraudulent behavior - Fail to pay for a paid subscription after the grace period - Remain inactive for more than 12 months on the Free plan
Upon termination for cause, we will make your data available for export for 30 days before permanent deletion, except in cases of illegal activity.
Disclaimer of Warranties
JeScan is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
AI-generated classifications and metadata extraction are provided as a convenience and may contain errors. You should verify important information independently.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JeScan and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to JeScan in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such cases, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and display a notice in the application at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Continued use of JeScan after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect.
Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Benin, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
We encourage you to contact us first at support@jescan.me to resolve any disputes informally.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the competent courts of Cotonou, Benin.
